Thick & Thin

In connection with the last week of the exhibition Thick & Thin, on Wednesday evening 7 August you can experience the artist Simon Dybbroe Møller in one-on-one conversations with:

Maja Li Härdelin, Artist
Kirsten Ortwed, Sculptur
Anders Kold, Curator at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
Steven Shainberg, Film Director

Each participant will interview Simon Dybbroe Møller for 20 minutes about the thoughts behind the exhibition Thick & Thin, which is on display in our south wing until 11 August 2024. Read more about the exhibition here.

The conversations will shift between taking place in Danish and in English. There is free admission to Kunsthal Charlottenborg at 17.00-20.00 and for the event, where seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

About the participants:

Simon Dybbroe Møller is a professor at the School of Sculptors at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He has studied visual arts at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main and lived and worked in Berlin and New York until he moved back to Denmark in 2019. Simon Dybbroe Møller has had solo exhibitions in Denmark and abroad, and is right now displaying his solo exhibition ‘Thick & Thin’ at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, which is the most comprehensive presentation of his practice to date and which shows works from the mid-2000s until today.

Maja Li Härdelin is an artist and lives and works in Malmö. She has a Master’s degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and until recently was Simon Dybbroe Møller’s student at the Sculpture School. In addition to her MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2023, Maja Li has a BA from the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts in 2020. She currently has her first solo exhibition, ‘Cats – The Exhibition’ at PS44, Kunsthal 44Møen.

Kirsten Ortwed is a sculptor and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1975. In 1982 she moved to Cologne. She has had solo exhibitions in Danish and international museums, and has several sculptures placed in public spaces. She has received multiple honours, including Eckersberg medaljen and Thorvaldsen Medaillen. She represented Denmark at the Venice Biennale in 1997. In 2022, Ortwed moved back to Denmark.

Anders Kold, curator & Head of Acquisitions, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Has worked for more than 30 years at art institutions with Danish and foreign modern and contemporary art.

Steven Shainberg is an American film director, writer and producer. He is, among other things, known for the films Secretary (2002) starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader, Rupture (2016), and Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006) starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. He currently lives in Copenhagen.
