William Forsythe (f. 1949) er en superstjerne i dansens verden og regnes af mange som en af de største nulevende koreografer. Forsythe er internationalt anerkendt for sit arbejde med Ballet Frankfurt samt med sit eget dansekompagni Forsythe Company, og hans koreografier indtager en betydelig plads i dansens historie.

Det sidste årti har William Forsythe markeret sig stærkt på den internationale kunstscene med storslåede kunstinstallationer, koreografiske objekter samt film- og videoværker.

Udstillingen William Forsythe In the Company of Others udfolder William Forsythes projekter ved at sætte dem i spil med værker af en række internationale samtidskunstnere: Manon de Boer, Gerard Byrne, Maria Meinild, Bruce Nauman, Rashaad Newsome, Magnus Pettersen og Sturtevant. På forskellig vis berører alle værkerne i udstillingen aspekter vedrørende relationerne mellem krop, rum, objekter og fællesskab.

William Forsythe har udstillet internationalt på væsentlige institutioner som Centre Pompidou i Paris,Tate Modern i London,Venedig Biennalen, Renaissance Society i Chicago og MMK i Frankfurt.

Udstillingen er realiseret i samarbejde med Den Danske Scenekunstskole København – Efteruddannelsen og er kurateret af Mathias Kryger.

William Forsythe (born 1949) is a super star in the world of dance and is widely considered to be one of the greatest living choreographers. He is internationally acclaimed for his work with Ballet Frankfurt, as well as the dance company Forsythe Company and his choreography holds a significant place in dance history.

Over the last decade, William Forsythe has made his mark on the international art scene with grand art installations, choreographic objects, as well as film and video works.

The exhibition, William Forsythe In the Company of Others brings Forsythe’s projects into play with works by a range of international contemporary artists: Manon de Boer, Gerard Byrne, Maria Meinild, Bruce Nauman, Rashaad Newsome, Magnus Pettersen and Sturtevant. All the works in the exhibition touch on aspects of the relationship between body, space, objects and community in various ways.
