The Art Critic Awards

AICA - The Association of Danish Art Critics

AICA – The Association of Danish Art Critics celebrates the art scene with this year’s Art Critics Awards for activities in 2023 on June 19th 2024 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.

Every year The Art Critics Award is awarded to initiatives on the Danish/Faroese/Greenlandic art scene to put art and art criticism on the agenda. The members of the association nominates in each category and the award winners are chosen by a jury. This years jury is art critic Troels Laursen, art critic and writer Louise Steiwer and rector of the Funen Art Academy Kristine Kern. The Art Critic Award is generously supported by 15. Junifonden.

The jury has shortlisted the following in the category Art Exhibition of the Year:
Full of days, kurateret af Julia Rodrigues & Francesca Astesani, Kunsthal Charlottenborg
Butterfly, kurateret af Esben Weile Kjær, Arken
Kirsten Christensen, Drømmene rider forbi – det haster, Holstebro Kunstmuseum 

The jury has shortlisted the following in the category Art Publication of the Year:

Rasmus Myrup: The Völvas Bestiary of Best Friends, Rasmus Myrup/Coda Press
Bibliotek for ny kunstteori, Informations Forlag

The jury has shortlisted the following in the category Art Event of the Year:
Guðrið Poulsen: KARYATIDA, Monument for kvinder, der er døde i barselsseng, Fuglafjørður
Jessie Klemann: Lone Wolf Runner, performance, Statens Museum for Kunst
Simon Starling: Husbåd til Ho, kunst i offentligt rum, Sønder Ho/Varde Kommune

15. Junifondens special award to an art critic of the year will be announced by the fund at the award ceremony at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.
